Site History
Lunar Cries was first published on April 20, 2001 under a completely different name. It was hosted on Tripod far before enormous ads became a problem; because of numerous ads, Lunar Cries has moved servers several times until kindly people chose to accept it as a hostee on their personal domains. My first privately-owned host was IdentifyWithMe.net, but the domain is long gone. I am now hosted by Britney of Unfoolish-Miracles.net, who've I've been associated with for the past two years.Originally, this site was only supposed to be a small shrine for the numerous characters I created as well as for sketches of those characters I did when I was 12 years old. My webwork at the time was very primitive due to the lack of experience and technology, which I was able to obtain in the following years while simultaneously developing my drawing skills and also taking up photography and painting. In the site's early years, I also had some poetry and even started a story about my characters, but the project was abandoned due to lack of time and interest.
Over the years I continuously refined my skills and I began adding different sections and subsections to the site and turned it into not just an online drawing portfolio but also a photography portfolio, poetry archive, and as of recently, a web design portfolio. I plan to split the site up into a collective once the subsections are large enough to become their own sites.

Current Layout Concept
The 31st layout for this site features Amaterasu, the main character of the Capcom-licensed Clover Studios game Okami, which is about a divine, sun god-inhibited wolf known as Amaterasu whose power wanes due to the weakening faith in gods by the people of Japan (then known as Nippon). While regaining her powers, a demon whose powers exceed that of Amaterasu unleashes a curse that spreads throughout Nippon and destroys nature while turning countless people into stone. The object of the game is to rebuild the goddess' power by regenerating nature and using that power to defeat the demon responsible for that chaos. I started playing that game around the end of March 2008 and although I had barely even learned how to jump and attack, I was already in love with the game's aesthetics and intended to create a new layout for this site using images from the plugged art gallery made especially to provide official artwork for fan usage. The delay was due to a slight artists' block as well as having not finished the game until the beginning of June.
The theme and color of this layout highly contrasts with the last layout, "fresh start." Unlike the color scheme of the last layout, which was light, airy, and vibrant, the color scheme I picked for this layout was the use of elegant, dark colors accented with subtle highlights, including bits of white, pink, and orange. The drastic changes in the use of color are due to a change in attitude during these past months from optimistic and resolute to grave and weary, despite being only halfway through the year. Within the first half of this year, many families of close friends suffered the abrupt and unexpected passing of a loved one, including a father, a god-father, a mother, and in my case, a grandfather. (Coincidentally, many innocent people encountered in the game Okami die for various reasons including disease, mental illness, and murder.) These losses coupled with the emotional struggles of cementing family ties have clouded the new years resolutions I formulated during the time of the last layout, and I chose these colors to reflect that.
In a few drafts for this layout, I also intended to keep the single-column layout for the site's blog, but I felt that because I was not going to use the drop-down navigation menu from the last layout, it would be inconvenient to have only a single panel to display links. As such, I reverted back to a blog's typical design of a single header followed by two columns in order to display more information conveniently. The graphics for the header, background, and bullet images are provided by Okami-Art.com and the yen background was provided courtesy of U-rock's Backgrounds. Brushes used for the header image are from Design Fruit and Totally Unprofessional.
